.Net Developer

Location:      Bournemouth

Role Description:

Appius has a great opportunity available for a .Net Developer to join our incredible Development Team. You will work alongside a passionate team of developers, you will design and build software and modules within our content management systems leveraging Sitecore, Optimizely, Sitefinity and Umbraco. You will develop customer portals and integrations with 3rd party solutions, CRM, payment gateway and other RESTful interfaces and bespoke modules.

As a .Net Developer you and the team are responsible for the development of the client websites and web-applications, as well as the maintenance and support. You will produce software specifications, plan and prototype and collaborate with internal and external teams across any given project. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle.

At Appius we make an investment and commitment to training our developers in our core platforms and technologies. We engage in structured training plans aiming to certify our developers in our core CMS platform working with CMS partners to engage in both onsite and offsite training.

Must Haves:

Role Description:

This is a really exciting role for anyone wanting to work at the heart of a digital agency with a 23-year history and an excellent client portfolio. The role is focused on frontend development, production of websites with Experience Platforms and ongoing maintenance.

Focus is to produce engaging websites and interactive experiences for our clients, through the process of styling and delivering within HTML, CSS, CMS Configuration and CMS Content Population activities, the website solutions are specified for you by the Solution Architect and Experience Team. Involves working closely with them to understand and transform their specifications and designs / wireframes into high quality, rich, interactive experiences.

You will provide Experience Platform technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, by exploring and defining the technical implementation of functional requirements using both out of the box CMS functionality, common components Appius have developed prior to or during the project, styling of existing components in new ways or defining and implementing new components / styling. You will prototype and build solutions using your knowledge and experience whilst drawing upon Senior Frontend Developers if needed, and Developers for BED required to create new components. Experience Platforms (.NET content management systems) we work with include; Sitecore, Episerver, Sitefinity and Umbraco.

 

Core Skills for the Role:

Frontend Development

  • HTML, XHTML, SCSS coding skills including use of frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • JavaScript (Vanilla & jQuery)
  • Coding for device diversity, PC/Mac; Tablet; Smartphone and cross browser
  • Integrating controls and plug-ins and widgets to produce dynamic pages in a component based approach

 

CMS Production

  • Translate functional spec. into implementation guide / FED & CMS production approach
  • Implement Content Management architecture, configuration and development processes
  • Integrate FED code into CMS and also configuration of content management system

 

Requirement Handling

  • Understand scope of a release and its functionality, so you can consider how best to build
  • Ensure functional and technical documentation is well understood and is iterated throughout the project journey
  • Discuss any scope deviation or ambiguity with the Solutions Architect, Senior Frontend Developer, Release Planning & Test Manager and Experience Team or potentially the client.

 

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with NodeJS and Gulp build system is desirable

QA Analyst

Role Description:

The right candidate will already have a background in QA or Business Analysis that they’re looking to take to the next level as part of an experienced team of friendly, approachable experts.

As a QA Analyst you’ll be part of the Solutions Team and report to our Solutions Director, Phil. You’ll work alongside our designers, developers, project managers and other QA Analysts to ensure the quality of our work remains high – by building a better understanding of client requirements, helping to plan releases, independently testing new solutions and managing issues through to resolution.

The Solutions Team have responsibility for establishing requirements on the way in (via Functional Specification), persisting and improving understanding of those requirements as we work (via Feature-based release planning and behaviour-driven development) and ensuring conformance with those requirements on the way out (through testing). Our QA Analysts aren’t just testers – they’re key to the whole project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Test planning and execution; including functionality, browser and device compatibility, accessibility and performance.
  • Contribution to – and maintenance of – Appius’ test automation suite.
  • Defect reporting and management, using our Agile project management tool, TargetProcess.
  • Client-facing requirements definition and Functional Specification authoring.
  • Participation in release planning, to help guide the development team through complex business requirements.
  • Regular internal project status reporting to the program management team.

 

Desirable Skills: 

  • Analytical and methodical mindset, able to untangle bugs to identify their root causes.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems, including Sitecore, Optimizely (formerly Episerver), Sitefinity and/or Umbraco.
  • Understanding of modern web development languages, including HTML, CSS and Javascript.
  • Hands-on experience authoring test scripts in the Gherkin language, for use with a test automation framework such as Cypress.

Role Description:

Exciting role for anyone who wishes to work at the heart of a digital delivery and project management environment for a digital agency with over 25 years history and an excellent client portfolio. The role is focused on project management, traffic management, planning and resourcing of work for customers by the competency teams. Maximising quality deliverables being completed and correctly delivered first time, as well as efficient understanding, throughput and productive use of the competency teams.

 

The role will identify and facilitate the definition of project and retainer releases, manage the progress of deliverables within these releases to completion, and ensure that the project and its associated releases are completed in alignment with the specification and ongoing client dialogue. Central to this role will be an understanding of the deliverables that align with the functional and technical specifications, the QA Analysts development of test plans, the execution of this testing and the management of the resolution of bugs.

 

The traffic management approach is facilitated through a 6-week view of resourcing, which feeds into this week, next week and last week focus for weekly activity, which this role will help to administer under the guidance of the Program Director. Tools that are used in the role include primarily TargetProcess, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Excel to manage and define release packages and deliverables, manage team time logging and the management of release confidence and variance.

 

Role is aimed at junior experienced project managers. Full training will be given to help progression.

 

Responsibilities:

Project, Risk & Resource Management:
  • Traffic management and prioritisation of features, requirements and the associated releases to maximise productivity
  • Confidence and variance management across features, requirements and releases
  • Daily and weekly resourcing adjustments and scheduling of team
  • Support the completion of weekly resourcing / capacity processes
  • Manage, monitor and report on confidence / risk and requirement variances
  • Provide regular release status reports for internal and external use
  • Manage risks, actions, issues, decisions (RAID) and internal and external escalations

Release Planning & QA:

  • Manage testing during stabilisation phase of each release and then the overall project
