Experienced Persuasive Copywriter Needed

We’re a persuasive writing agency in Bournemouth with more copy to write than we can shake a keyboard at.

We’re looking for a copywriter with silky writing skills who can create powerfully persuasive copy for our clients – and guide our small army of freelance writers with helpful advice and direction.

We’re hybrid workers, mixing remote and office. As well as benefiting from quietly productive time at home, we’d expect you to spend some time in our office and make our weekly team catch up – and monthly lunches!

About us

As persuasive writing specialists, we create great copy and content for a range of brands and businesses. We’re particularly strong in the university sector, B2B and tech. You can read more about the sort of work we get up to on our case studies pages.

A big part of our work is helping brands define their personality with a distinctive voice. As well as defining their tone, we run workshops that help teams bring that voice to life. We also run a range of other writing workshops that help teams write sharper copy, emails, reports, content and more.

We have a small but bijou office in central Bournemouth, which we mix with working from home. Getting together as a team is important to us and we meet in a cafe on Monday morning to plan the week ahead.

What do we expect from you?

We’re looking for a persuasive word wrangler, who knows their CTA from their H1. You need to be able to turn your hand to a wide range of media, from web to email, social to more traditional media.

If you’ve worked in tech, b2b, or higher education that would be a bonus but not a deal breaker.

We’d also love to see any work you’ve done developing tone of voice for businesses and brands.

We resource larger projects with freelance writers who need briefing and guidance. We pride ourselves on giving very clear briefs and lots of support. We expect to direct freelance writers to give the best possible outcome.

If you like the idea of passing on your experience, and are a confident speaker, we can train you to run our writing workshops too.

Specifically, you’ll be expected to:

  • Create high-quality copy across a range of sectors and platforms

  • Bring a strategic and insightful approach to your copy

  • Work with designers and website builders to make copy and design work together (we take a very visual approach to writing)

  • Respond positively to feedback from other writers and project managers

  • Write regular (6-weekly) posts and newsletters for A Thousand Monkeys

  • Be a competent proofreader and editor capable of delivering error-free work

  • Pitch in where necessary to help out the team

  • Be happy with a hybrid working model
