This is a perfect role for someone self-motivated, sociable and keen to develop their own ideas and solutions.
Silicon South runs a Network for the Digital, Creative and Tech industries in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset. Our goal is to support a thriving digital community driven by world-class, vibrant and exciting creative businesses. We do this by providing a range of activities and services e.g.:
We help people expand their knowledge, develop their potential, and make the right connections. And we also shout about the successes they generate – to make sure the region keeps building its profile and reputation across the country – and beyond.
This role will help make these services a success. The events are a mixture of in-person and virtual; the tools are available on the website for anyone to use; and any business in the region’s sector can sign up to the Directory.
The Events and Marketing Manager will work closely with Silicon South’s Director to shape and plan these activities and be responsible for setting up the events; arranging panellists and experts to participate; generating interest – through social media and email; and getting attendees to sign up. (We already have a strong database and good relationships in the industry to support this).
Silicon South will soon be removing all membership costs associated with joining the Silicon South network. This provides a great opportunity to expand the network and increase the use of the online tools and services. You’ll promote this new free-to-all opportunity, helping people understand the benefits it offers, to increase the involvement from the business leaders and new entrants.
As well as social media and email, this will sometimes involve one-to-one conversations with people at all levels of industry, as well as with our connections at the local Unis and colleges.
It’s a rich and fascinating opportunity that offers plenty of variety and the chance to make connections across the industry – from early entrants to corporate bosses. You’ll have a strong degree of autonomy over the work.
