Open Accelerator Workshop 3 – Blue Ocean Strategies
Date: 28 October 2020 10:00am – 11:00am
This workshop is part 3 of Silicon South’s ‘Open Accelerator’ Series
Building a product or service which stands out from the competition is no easy matter. Even if an idea is truly creative, that doesn’t mean it’s unique and it’s no guarantee of attracting customers.
In this workshop we will look at what makes a product be ‘different’, and how you can create one yourself. We’ll explore examples of companies which have redefined the boundaries of what was accepted practice in their own sectors.
We’ll show what their market looked like, how they broke it down – to understand what audiences liked and didn’t like – and then, almost magically, how they borrowed ideas from other market places to produce something unique, fresh and very successful. Then we’ll give you the tools to do it for yourself.
You will learn how to:
- Define your market
- Understand your competition
- Differentiate your product
- Appreciate the difference between Blue Ocean and Red Ocean strategies
- Implement a Blue Ocean strategy within your business
If you’re at an early stage of building a product or service, or you’re looking to refresh an existing offering, this workshop will help you review the idea from several different angles. We’ll help you look at the proposition through your customers’ eyes, understand the attraction and aversion it represents, and show you how to develop your plans to go beyond their current expectations.
