A rare chance for an open, frank and confidential discussion with your peers to help your business
As a small company leader, it can be hard to look ahead, plan, manage, or feel confident about the decisions you take when you’re caught up in running the business and delivering its services at the same time.
The Directors Groups invite leaders to come together to explore their challenges, opportunities and pain points. It is open exclusively to founders working in similar-sized businesses from the digital, creative and tech sectors – so everyone has a close affinity to the issues each other faces – but invariably from non-competing disciplines.
Every Group session provides a chance for founders in similar positions to learn from each other, in a facilitated environment, to gain the benefits both from their experience as fellow small business leaders, but also the expertise they can offer from their respective fields – e.g. as marketers, developers, brand experts etc.
Thanks to guidance from previous participants, this session is designed to deliver advice and support in a way which is most practical. The group will take a peer group/board approach. There will be 8 founders in the group. Every participant is asked to bring a specific challenge or opportunity with them. The session follows this format…
- Intro to each participant – get to know who’s in the room
- Each person gives an overview of their top challenge or opportunity
- The facilitator teases out key points
- Group provides direct feedback and ideas (applying action learning techniques)
- for 12 mins each, then move on to the next person
The groups are not designed to give you a specific answer – only you can determine the best course for yourself. The process of stimulating new ideas, however, is highly beneficial in better understanding context and the questions asked and thoughts provoked by the peer group help each participant to build clarity about how they can proceed more effectively.
The session will be facilitated by Anthony Story. He is the Director of Silicon South, an ex-agency founder, and has delivered a wide range of accelerator, business support and innovation programmes.
- This group is free to Business Supporters of the Silicon South network.
- There is a charge of £10 for non-Supporters
